The Melbourne Design week - part 02
It was colorful and inviting space at the Melbourne Convention Centre, and it was great to see again after a few years, the passion and enthusiasm for everything Design. The space was full of both indoor, and outdoor furniture design. There was some real interest in garden design objects — this is something growing more than ever. This mix and exchange of indoor/outdoor spaces.
It was great to see “The Stanley Gallery” of Sydney, which had a unique picture wall with the works of Greta Ferguson, that got my attention. The artist uses different shaped picture frames with textured cornices, antique gold finish to create interest.
The different sizes of the frames together on a gallery wall look amazing. Having only one beautiful frame is gorgeous- but the idea of having more movement across the wall is very special.
It was a pleasure to chat with Stanley Street Gallery, Sydney. Congratulations on representing this fabulous young artist.
Milan’s Design Week 2023
During my moment of reading and researching I found loads of interesting ideas about design, especially Colour trends.
One of the Interior Colours that is clearly in Vogue at the moment, is “ Blush pink”.
Porters Paints have had this colour for a while now called “Blush”
We love this tone of pink, mixed in with warm grey. It is no longer a child room’s tone, but something more grown up, that can work in many different areas or ways. Also, we saw Earthy tones like Browns & Apricots. Now we see them toned right back with a Grey mixed through it. This gives these colours a fresh newness to them. A pallet we associated with the 80’s.we now can re- use this colour palette, taking colour to a new level. Lastly, Patricia Urquiola, uses Water colour designs that take me back me back a few years. Traditionally her designs are more of a block colour, however this year she has introduced a watercolour palette called “Aquarelle” Her sofa range, her screen designs are worth a look at. Her thoughts on this colour palette makes very interesting
The Melbourne Design week - part 02
It was such a plenty to meet Aunty Glenda Nicholls. Understanding how and why the feathers she uses together to create beautiful flowers.
There is a story about where the feathers come from, how her mother and grandmother used them and why they may suit or not, the flower arrangements she creates.
The Koori Heritage Trust, is also the home to the works of many of the elders, such as Aunty Glenda’s mother. The library showcased many different kinds of feather flower arrangement that date back many many years ago.
Pierre Bonnard at the National Gallery in Melbourne
Definitely an Exhibition not to be missed and if you can, have a look at the projects and furniture this amazing women has completed. Something Special to see, as they have called India in to complete this project.

Patricia & her husband are an extremely interesting design team, that have moved boundaries for many years and we continue to see them doing this. After living in Italy for 20 years, it's an event I truly miss. Remember - where is the colour going, what is its purpose in the home. How does it make you feel?
Remembering that Colour is magic and has the power to change any environment.

A fresh clean almost happy colour that sits well with greys of varying tones.
Also, we saw Earthy tones like Browns & Apricots. Now we see them toned right back with a Grey mixed through it. This gives these colours a fresh newness to them. A pallet we associated with the 80’s.we now can re- use this colour palette, taking colour to a new level.
From front doors to main walls, bedrooms and pool area spaces. These colours are perfect

Koorie Heritage Trust, at Federation Square Melbourne during Design Week in May 2023, hosted a fabulous Feather & Flowers Workshop, by Aunty Glenda Nicholls
It was such a plenty to meet Aunty Glenda Nicholls. Understanding how and why the feathers she uses together to create beautiful flowers.
There is a story about where the feathers come from, how her mother and grandmother used them and why they may suit or not, the flower arrangements she creates.
Her words of wisdom, stories of her family and love for her people, her nurturing of the land where she grew up make up for a fabulous morning.
The Koori Heritage Trust, is also the home to the works of many of the elders, such as Aunty Glenda’s mother. The library showcased many different kinds of feather flower arrangement that date back many many years ago.
Aunty Glenda & other family members still carry this tradition of flower making using feathers. The richness in this culture she hopes will be passed down to her daughter maintaining this everlasting tradition.
If you get a chance this woman is amazing and so worth listening to.

Milan’s Design Week 2023
The Melbourne Design Week, the last week of May was a very exciting moment for all of us designers.
It was colorful and inviting space at the Melbourne Convention Centre, and it was great to see again after a few years, the passion and enthusiasm for everything Design. The space was full of both indoor, and outdoor furniture design. There was some real interest in garden design objects — this is something growing more than ever. It was great to see "The Stanley Gallery" of Sydney, which had a unique picture wall with the works of Greta Ferguson, that got my attention. The artist uses different shaped picture frames with textured cornices, antique gold finish to create interest.
This artist goes as far as to fill the frame with a copper base liquid form to create a silver form overhanging the frame. What a great way to create depth and movement on an otherwise flat space. The idea is very well mastered.
The different sizes of the frames together on a gallery wall look amazing. Having only one beautiful frame is gorgeous- but the idea of having more movement across the wall is very special.

Using unusual shaped mirrors, with textured cornices not only created interest,
but this artist went as far to fill the frame with copper base to create a form of silver lining overhanging the frame.
What a great way to create depth and movement on an otherwise flat space.
The idea is very well mastered. The sizes are also important, having different sized frames up on a Gallery wall, lined up. It was a pleasure to chat and understand artists always trying to push their craft out of the box.

India Mahdavi. The French Artist, Interior Designer is visiting Melbourne at the moment. India has designed the set for the French Impressionist Artist, Pierre Bonnard at the National Gallery in Melbourne. She has dressed the set for the exhibition with her own furniture, props to give us the scale of the show. Even though I have not yet seen the Exhibition, it appears like a Space, different from others. It is more like a theatre set with lots of colour helping to tell the story of the artist’s work along the way. Definitely an Exhibition not to be missed and if you can, have a look at the projects and furniture this amazing women has completed. Something Special to see, as they have called India in to complete this project.
An Impressionist’s reality is colourful and very positive teamed with India’s furniture colour and props. The exhibition has this feeling of being actual, almost like Bonnard had completed the pieces yesterday. His close friend Henri Matisse, declared “that Bonnard was a great painter, for today and definitely also for the future”. So true because together these 2 artists have created a happy place to Be this winter… enjoy until my next blog report.
